|
|
I ran my cranking battery flat, having left some electronics turned on over a 2 week period. When I discovered the problem, I tried to trickle charge the battery. Over 24hr period I got only 8V and the battery would not even crank the engine. I threw a spare Deep Cycle battery in and thought the problem was solved for the duration of the trip. It fired the motor once. The second time the voltage gauge was showing nothing. I carry a portable 12V battery with me on my trips. I hooked it parallel and successfully fired the engine at least three times during a 2 day trip. I am learning DC battery is not a good replacement for a starting battery.
Anything like this happened to you? _________________ Kind Regards,

Get on board smart charger ( one or two bank)
Trickle charger is for maintenance charging only.
The current isn't nearly enough to bring the battery back to life
after deep discharge. |

That's good, disconnect one bank and connect it to the starting battery and let it fully charge. You can for the future install 2 pole switch so you don't need to swap the connection if it happens again |
